A unique ecosystem of vineyards, forests, and hills living in harmony. The 183 hectares are managed using practices such as vineyard naturalization, the implementation of cover crops, and respectful pruning, all of which ensure the health and longevity of the vines.
Our viticulturists manage each plot individually, adapting to its specific realities and needs. Finca Espiells is an example of diversity that preserves the landscape of the Penedès, and this is our commitment to excellence in viticulture.
At Finca Espiells, we were pioneers in adopting organic viticulture practices in 2012, receiving organic certification in 2015. This approach eliminates the use of pesticides and chemicals, prioritizing natural methods that preserve soil fertility, biodiversity, and the purity of the environment.
Today, the estate is a balanced ecosystem that ensures healthy and sustainable vineyards. This cultivation model is also an exercise in environmental responsibility and a commitment to protecting the natural heritage.
In the context of climate change, our commitment, maintained for generations, to indigenous varieties—more resilient and better adapted to this climate—proves to be absolutely right.
In the heart of the Penedès, Xarel·lo stands as our emblem. This native white grape produces wines with notable body and balanced acidity, with aromas that evoke white fruits and herbaceous notes of fennel and anise.
Its versatility allows us to create blends full of complexity and single-varietal wines with aging potential that reflect the essence of our region.
Among the native white varieties, we also have Garnacha Blanca, with its rustic character and aromas of stone fruits and green apple.
Malvasía de Sitges is one of the warm varieties of the Mediterranean Sea. Its origin is believed to trace back to the port of Monemvasía, located in the south of the Peloponnese. It arrived on the Catalan coast around the year 1500, brought by Greek merchants.
Some foreign varieties have adapted perfectly to our environment, such as the sophisticated and versatile Chardonnay, the Sauvignon Blanc, with its acidity and freshness, and the aromatic Gewürztraminer.
As for red varieties, at Finca Espiells, we cultivate an intense and structured Cabernet Sauvignon, as well as the elegant Pinot Noir.
At the heart of our vineyards stands the Celler d’Espiells, an imposing architectural complex, designed in the style of Bordeaux châteaux. It is here that wines are crafted with a technical rigor and winemaking standards that are truly exceptional. For it is only through evolution that we can truly remain faithful to tradition.
Sober, elegant, and integrated into the landscape, this winery harmonizes functionality and beauty. Its spacious areas, carefully designed and equipped, allow for the precise execution of tasks such as grape reception and selection, destemming, pressing, and subsequent fermentation.
Our mission is none other than to interpret what nature provides us with each year and to listen carefully to what the vineyard asks of us at every moment.
In this way, the renewed vision of our winemaking team and the mastery of the most suitable winemaking techniques, such as low-temperature fermentation and the absence of malolactic fermentation, work hand in hand to preserve the aromatic intensity and freshness of our grapes.
